Harold E. McCormick, Davenport, Iowa
Mr. McCormick started out with the 82nd Airborne, landing in France and advancing across Germany into Austria. He was later with the 42nd Rainbow Division and the 524th MP's. He assisted in the liberation of Dachau, and a plaque honoring the Rainbow Division sets at Dachau today, reminding visitors of the sacrifice of the liberators. Mr. McCormick says of his experience at Dachau, "It was not a very pretty sight. Men, women and children were either dead or dying." Mr. McCormick, your compassionate efforts will always be remembered.
